Divus Constantine I – Posthumous Æ Follis (Before AD 340)

This evocative bronze follis was minted shortly after the death of Constantine the Great in AD 337, commemorating his apotheosis. Struck at the Alexandria mint, this issue is rich in early Christian symbolism.

• Obverse: Veiled head of Constantine right, signifying his deification.

• Reverse: The Emperor in a quadriga (four-horse chariot) being carried heavenward, reaching toward the manus Dei (hand of God) above—a powerful iconographic representation of Constantine’s ascent to the divine. A star appears above the scene.
  Mintmark: SMALΔ (Sacra Moneta Alexandria, 4th officina).

With dark brown patina, strong detail, and a minor flan flaw, this example remains Extremely Fine (EF). A poignant and collectible piece from the dawn of Christian imperial ideology in Roman coinage.
