This bronze tetrachalkon was issued under Tigranes V, a lesser-known but historically intriguing ruler of Armenia during the early Roman Imperial period.
Obverse: Bearded, draped bust of Tigranes V, facing right, wearing a five-pointed Armenian tiara adorned with four eagles and tied with a diadem—a clear symbol of his royal authority and Armenian heritage.
Reverse: Herakles, the legendary Greek hero, is depicted standing front, head turned left, resting his right hand on a club set on the ground, while draping the lion skin over his left arm. The Greek inscription reads ΒAΣΙΛΕΩΣ TIΓPANOY MEΓAΛΟΥ ("King Tigranes the Great"), reinforcing his claim to legitimacy and power.
