Description

A unique and historically rich bronze follis from the reign of Emperor Heraclius, featuring his wife Martina and son Heraclius Constantine, struck during the Persian wars of the early 7th century.

  • Obverse: Crowned and facing busts of Heraclius (center), Martina (left), and Heraclius Constantine (right), each wearing chlamys and holding a globus cruciger—symbolizing divine authority.

  • Reverse: Brockage—an incuse mirror-image of the obverse caused by a minting error where a previously struck coin stuck to the die.

With dark brown and earthen surfaces, this coin exhibits the telltale signs of ancient circulation and cleaning, yet preserves an unusual and collectible brockage strike, adding rarity and character.
