Description
A remarkable silver tram from the reign of King Levon II (1270–1289), ruler of Cilician Armenia. The obverse depicts Levon II on horseback, holding a patriarchal cross, with the legend “Levon King of all Armenians” in Armenian script. The reverse shows a crowned lion advancing right with head facing and raised paw, a cross behind, and the inscription “Struck in the city of Sis.”
