Valentinian II (AD 364–375) Roman Bronze Nummus

This compact bronze nummus was issued under Valentinian II, who became emperor at the age of four and ruled during a turbulent period of the late Roman Empire.

• Obverse: Diademed, draped, and cuirassed bust of Valentinian II facing right.

• Reverse: Victory advancing left, holding a wreath in one hand and a palm branch in the other—classic symbols of Roman military success and divine favor.

Struck during a time of shifting alliances and increasing pressure on Rome’s frontiers, this coin captures the imperial propaganda of triumph and stability. With well-preserved details and a warm patina, this is a fine example from the late 4th century.
